High-order upwind residual distribution schemes on isoparametric curved elements

چکیده
Residual distribution schemes are discussed in the context of higher order spatial discretization for hyperbolic conservation laws. The discrete solution is globally continuous, defined by a Finite Element space based on triangular Lagrangian Pk elements. A natural subtriangulation of these elements allows the reuse of simple distribution formula previously developed for linear P1 triangles. The paper introduces curved elements with piecewise quadratic approximation of the boundaries of the domain, using standard subor isoparametric transformation. Numerical results for the Euler equations confirm the predicted order of accuracy, showing the importance of a higher order approximation of the geometry.

High-Order Hyperbolic Residual-Distribution Schemes on Arbitrary Triangular Grids
In this paper, we construct high-order hyperbolic residual-distribution schemes for general advection-diffusion problems on arbitrary triangular grids. We demonstrate that the second-order accuracy of the hyperbolic schemes can be greatly improved by requiring the scheme to preserve exact quadratic solutions. We also show that the improved secondorder scheme can be easily extended to the third-...
متن کاملThe comparison of two high-order semi-discrete central schemes for solving hyperbolic conservation laws
This work presents two high-order, semi-discrete, central-upwind schemes for computing approximate solutions of 1D systems of conservation laws. We propose a central weighted essentially non-oscillatory (CWENO) reconstruction, also we apply a fourth-order reconstruction proposed by Peer et al., and afterwards, we combine these reconstructions with a semi-discrete central-upwind numerical flux ...
متن کاملEssentially non-oscillatory Residual Distribution schemes for hyperbolic problems
The Residual Distribution (RD) schemes are an alternative to standard high order accurate finite volume schemes. They have several advantages: a better accuracy, a much more compact stencil, easy parallelization. However, they face several problems, at least for steady problems which are the only cases considered here. The solution is obtained via an iterative method. The iterative convergence ...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Full Isoparametric Multigrid Algorithm for a Second Order Elliptic Problem
A second order elliptic problem is investigated in domains with complex geometry. The sequence of nonnested finite element triangulations is generated by higher order curved elements. Convergence analysis of the full nonnested multigrid algorithm is done on the basis of a pure isoparametric approach. A numerical example supporting the considered theory is presented.
متن کاملUpwind and High-Resolution Methods for Compressible Flow: From Donor Cell to Residual- Distribution Schemes
In this paper I review three key topics in CFD that have kept researchers busy for half a century. First, the concept of upwind differencing, evident for 1-D linear advection. Second, its implementation for nonlinear systems in the form of highresolution schemes, now regarded as classical. Third, its genuinely multidimensional implementation in the form of residual-distribution schemes, the mos...
